For reviewers
Our expectations of reviewers, and what reviewers can expect from us.
Reviews should be constructive, specific and free of personal comment. Point to the section and line you are referring to, and separate essential revisions from optional suggestions.
Decline promptly if you have a competing interest, if the manuscript is outside your expertise, or if you cannot meet the deadline. A quick decline is far more useful to authors than a late review.
Treat every manuscript as confidential. Do not share it, quote it, or use its findings before publication. Manuscripts must not be uploaded to AI tools that retain or train on submitted content.
